Bourne is really seven places wearing one town’s name, and where you live in it changes everything about where you go for a haircut. Sagamore Beach is a different drive from Cataumet. Buzzards Bay is a different world from Pocasset. What they share is a shortage of salons doing serious color work — which is why so many Bourne clients end up in our chairs in Onset Village.
TarraDean Studio has been on Union Avenue for more than thirty years. We are a genuinely high-end hair salon serving Bourne, MA with cuts, color and styling built on training most of the region does not have access to — and we are close enough that getting here is not an errand you have to plan your day around.
The honest pitch is a combination of two things that rarely show up together out here: real technical depth, and a drive that does not involve sitting in rotary traffic.
Tarra Dean spent twenty years as a national educator for the Matrix division of L’Oréal, teaching technique to other stylists across the country before building her own team around it. That is not typical for a salon in a canal-side village of a few thousand people. It means the color work available to you fifteen minutes from Sagamore is the same standard you would drive to Boston for.
The second thing is simply geography. We are west of the canal, off Cranberry Highway, in a village where parking still exists. For most of Bourne that is a shorter and calmer trip than heading up-Cape or over to Falmouth.
Everything is priced by stylist experience level — junior stylist through master stylist — so you can match the chair to your budget and your goal. Consultations are complimentary.
The full menu with starting prices is on our hair services page.
Worth noting for the Cape-side villages: you cross the Bourne Bridge westbound, which on a July Saturday is the empty direction while everyone else queues to get onto the Cape.
If you know Bourne, here is roughly how far you are from us:
Plenty of our Bourne clients pair an appointment with lunch on the Onset waterfront or a walk out to the pier afterward — it is a short enough trip that it does not have to eat the whole morning.
Tarra Dean grew up here and built the studio here. Beyond her two decades educating for Matrix, she leads a team she has personally trained, all of whom continue their education rather than coasting on it. Our stylists carry real tier distinctions — junior, stylist, senior, master — because the difference matters and you deserve to know which one you are booking.
We also stand behind the work. If your color is not what you pictured, say so and we will recreate it. You can read the specifics on our commitment guarantee, meet the team on our stylist page, or see what clients have said on our reviews page.

It depends which village you are starting from. From Buzzards Bay and Bourne Village the drive is under ten minutes along Route 6. From Sagamore and Sagamore Beach, expect roughly fifteen minutes via the Scenic Highway. From Pocasset, Monument Beach and Cataumet you will cross the Bourne Bridge heading west, which typically runs fifteen to twenty minutes.
Yes. Onset Village is far easier to park in than most of the canal area, and we have parking available at the studio. Full details are on our parking page.
Yes, and we recommend it. July and August book up quickly across the canal area, so clients with a wedding, a reunion or a stretch of company coming down usually book their color four to six weeks ahead.
We see clients from every corner of Bourne
